I'm seeing these dark, very very tiny curled up dot things mixed with dandruff when I scratch my head. They get stuck on my nail, that is how I noticed them. My head is NOT itchy, I don't have any bites, so I am certain it is not lice, and I dont think it's fleas either. Could it just be random dirt oe what not?? How do I know if it turns out it is a bug? I also dont think it's ring worm because the black dot one means black dots right on the scalp, and not being scratched off.
My dandruff is also coming out grey looking, like it's not all white

i have three reasons for doing this:
1)i wanna know what i look like bald, i think bald chicks are hot (i'm bi, btw)
2)i have lice, and my mother or father refuses to help me get rid of it, it's extremely overwhelming.
3)my hair is very thin and i have a bald spot already from frequent bleaching/dyeing. it would be so healthy and soft when it grows back.
oh btw, my hair grows so fast, i have to touch up my roots every two-three weeks. so if i don't like it it's not that big of a deal.

Hey everyone, so I need help, i'm sort of freaking out here. I had a dream like a week ago that bugs were falling out of my hair (like huge ones) and it really freaked me out. I had another one a couple nights ago, and today I noticed my head itching really bad. I used "sun in" like 4 days ago (like bleach kind of) on my hair which can severely irritate the scalp. I shook my head over a peice of paper after work today (washed my hair good this morning) and I saw like black pepper looking specs. My mom checked my hair for lice (she looked behind the ears, nape of the neck) and saw nothing. I have a cat that sleeps in my bed with me and she frequently goes outside, but she has been treated once a month for fleas. Could these black specks be flea dirt even without the presence of a live flea in my head (right now at least)...or would they have washed out this morning when I washed my hair? I am FREAKING out. Please help!

I have caught lice from my daughter. I have cleared her head the natural way e.g. shampoo with neem oil in it, nit combing, conditioner, and picking out the eggs. She is nit and lice free.
I have them now and I have no one to nit pick for me. I am very allergic to the chemical shampoos and lotions. I have tried the following over the last 3 days: soaking hair in vinegar, lashings of conditioner, nit combing,shampoo with neem oil, shampoo with tea tree oil, hair straighteners to try and fry the eggs, blasting my head with the garden hose to blast the lice from my scalp etc etc,
I am getting desperate as the itch is horrendous and we are going away on holiday in 6 days. I know all about nit and lice transmission etc as I used to work as a nurse and from personal experience, however this infestation is very hard to get rid of . I am tempted to shave my head as I am getting so desperate.
Does anyone know if these electronic devises work at killing the eggs(nits) or do they just kill the live lice? If so what brand and where do I get them? I live in UK near a big Boots store. Could I get one there? I looked up Boots online but couldnt see any on their website.
Also does anyone know if vodka would kill the eggs? have heard that works.I have a sensitive scalp but am willing to try anything. My vet told me years ago she uses Frontline spray on her kids heads and it is perfectly safe for humans.

I have had a really itchy head and neck for a few weeks now. My first thought was lice, I am a Kindergarten teacher and the idea seemed plausible. After have three family members look through my hair, however, they say there is nothing there, not even dandruff. Then I found this thin brown/black bug in my hair. It has a long abdomen and only legs at the front near the head. It does not look like a bed bug and I am completely at a loss as to what it is. Every now and then my daughter seems to get some white gunk in her hair. I guess it's some sort of skin infection or dandruff because if I don't use selsun blue shampoo on her when it first starts, her head gets covered in scabs.
This morning she had a patch of white things again. But it is different. They are suck to her hair - won't wash or brush out. It's not lice. I checked very thoroughly for little bugs and had a nurse double-check. - All she could tell me was that lice eggs are bigger and if it was dandruff doesn't stick like that.
Any ideas? When viewed with an eyeclops (which magnified it to about golf ball size) I could see that they were was semi-transparent and had no definite shape. Almost looked like little blobs of dried glue. Her scalp looks fine. No irritation and what ever this is doesn't appear to be coming from it. Which pretty much just leaves the options of: A, some sort of little bug laid eggs in her hair then vacated or B, she got something in her hair but I have no idea what the source would be.Thanks for the ideas. I will take her to the store to pick up a lice comb and different shampoo after lunch. Poor kid. We spent half an hour trying to comb / pick it out this morning. And to the person who suggested it could be puberty related, she's only 6. ... Which means she could just not be rinsing well enough on the nights I let her do her own hair. But I washed it for her this morning and it still didn't loosen up or come out.Thanks for the advice Scarlett. ... I was going to try to wash it out with a stronger shampoo this afternoon, but my grandmother just asked for her insurance card so they can get it checked out at the doctor's office.

this is the second time i found it, once two nights ago and then again when i was combing my hair. it came out really easily, not like how people describe how nits can't come out that well. my head isn't all itchy either. i take really good care of my hair and i haven't shared any brushes or straighteners with anyone in a very long time (months, probably).
i looked at it pretty closely and it was kind of arrow shaped (or a triangle) made up of like these spikes. it was kind of tan or see through. it didn't have any legs and it really did not look like a bug at all. i hope i don't have lice and my heart is pounding so hard right now cause parasites scare me more than anything!!

Sure, I make extra money, but I only earn 10 cents a day. Sure, my drawings (usually landscapes and people) are really good, but nobody respects a poor person. Unless if the person respecting me is poor, but I still do not get much of that. So there I was, leaving Ireland, going to America, to start out new.
I was pushed to the inspection doctors. The doctor looked at me with sort of a grimace. I could tell they wanted to be a first class passenger on the Titanic instead of having to check peoples’ dirty heads and bodies for and illness or diseases.
“Eh! You there!” another doctor called to me. The first doctor looked relieved. I slumped over to the second doctor, purely out of boredom. I knew what he was going to say. Something cruel and vile.
“Let me check you, filthy mutt. Hmmm…let’s see…no lice…healthy skin…but look at the state of your clothes! Haven’t you been washing them in something like…err…leftover bath water? You know, when people throw their water out on the streets, and you wash yourself in it?” The doctors laughed at his cruel words. I looked down at myself. Clean clothes! No stains!

Okay so my sister who is 11 got has head lice and before we found out she had it she helped watch my 2 small children while I was visiting my husband in the hospital. I could very well have them also, but this question is more for my kids. Okay first off how easily are head lice transferred from one person to the next? My youngest son is only 3 1/2 months and has very very little hair could it still be possible for him to have head lice because I read that they don't like light and his whole scalp can be seen. Also my 2 year old son has hair that is about 2 inches long and I really don't want to use the lice treatment on him because it will be VERY hard to keep him still for 10 minutes. Obviously my infant isn't going to itch and my two year old doesn't itch at all. I did check my older sons head this morning and didn't see anything and I looked at my infants head last night, but he has really bad dry skin. I also head my husband check my head because I was itching a lot but I know I have dandruff and he said I had a lot of stuff in my hair, but he was pretty sure it was dandruff because you could move it. i know there are run down crack head motels out in myrtle beach that cost like 25 buck a night and im pretty sure they wont ask you to be any specific age. but i would like a semi-nice hotel that i know i wont get lice from or any akward dissesase by just opening the door.

Yesterday i noticed that my filly i got from an auction has SEVERE infestation. She had been acting up when i was touching her neck and mane and would rear and kick and was very upset and i couldnt figure out why until i looked closer (she is white) and saw little bugs with reddish brown heads and yellowish bodies with black stripes (width way) andi looked it up to be a certain type of Lice. they have burrowed very close to the skin on the underside of her mane and there are ALOT on that side i pulled some out and their is also eggsacks attached to the hair follicles. The base of her mane is slightly swollen and their is a small open sore there, the skin around is irritated. I have decided today to shave her mane off to make it easier to treat them. I have heard of a duster treatmeant for lice you can use on dogs, cats, livestock etc that i can buy at the feed store.. but if anyone has some good information about treatmeant that would be great.
** she has been living in my boyfriends small barn since we got her, in the process of moving her to pasture at my dads house. So im pretty sure she has acquired these "bugs" by living in the barn (damp,dark environment)- as their is no proper light or airway accept from the sliding door.

I think my 4 year old got lice from trying on hats at a store. Last Thursday I saw 2 bugs and so I treated it immediately with Nix. I also treated myself and my 8 year old. Yesterday, they stayed with their grandma and she noticed nits in the 4 year old's hair. I treated her again with Nix (and us as well). I also combed and picked out the nits for about 2 hours yesterday and 2 hours today. I didn't find many white nits today, just several darker colored nits. Are the dark colored nits (that look like dirt) alive or dead? I've washed everything that can be washed, vacummed everything. I've seriously been going crazy the past 2 days trying to clean everything. My pediatrician recommended putting mayonaise on her head in a shower cap and letting her sleep on it. Should I go ahead and do that tonight? Any other tips! This is my first time dealing with this and it is terrible, I could almost cry!

I have an insane fear of lice. I went through a very traumatic experience in middle school when my friend gave me lice, everyone found out, ha to cut my hair, etc.
So, we moved recently to a brand new home do o an unrelated issue. It's been two years since the lice incident, but I constantly pick through my hair. It is sort of the two year anniversary this week, so it may be a phycological reason that I can't stop itching my scalp.
I checked it thoroughly, but found no visible lice. I do hve a teensy bit of dandruff. I found 5 small nit-ish looking things but cant be sure it was just a hard bit of skin or pimple stuff. I also have two tiny red sores, but this could be dandruff related.
Anyway, I would rather not have my mom check me. It would be so embarrassing to relive this, and seeing as I am a sophomore, I can handle this on my own.
Without being sure of what my head condition is, what should I do?
Any treatments to do at home? Thanks.

I have a yearling Missouri Fox Trotter<as I went down to the pasture I was brushing him and with his winter hair coming out along came all these little white things all over the hair that looked like lice...I'm freaked out ,and I'm not even sure they are lice but I'm being careful not to get it my self,what do I do to treat this?? A bath?
it seems to be only around his head area,and he has been rubbing on every thing in site ,

My scalp is very itchy today and I can't figure out why. I use an anti-dandruff shampoo (Head and Shoulders), and usually that helps with the itching, but even after my shower yesterday I was still itching. I don't know if it's lice (I live by myself and I feel self-conscious about asking someone else to look at my scalp), but I'm starting to suspect it may be. I was looking online, and much of my research says that lice tend to make the back of the ears itch and the nape of the neck, which isn't happening with me, so I'm really not sure. I can't get a good look at the back of my neck, for another thing. Does anyone hear know a way to test for lice?

so about a week ago the back of my neck got a little red bump on it and it was crazy itchy! so ive been scratching it and stuff when i noticed that i have like 5 or so of these little bumps like in random spots on my scalp. I've been looking through my hair and didn't see lice or nits, all i could see was some dandruff flakes. Do you think I have lice? If it's just dandruff why are there itchy bumps? please help?! =/

I live with a male friend, And for the second time he's went to see this girl, He's came home with lice! The first time he went he stayed at some cheap hotel and he keeps calming he got the lice from there cause he sure didn't get it from her, Yeah ok whatever. Now he just got back today and tada he has it again! You can see them as plain as day on the towels he leaves hanging in the bathroom, Ok I have a 7 year old and myself that sure in the heck don't want lice!
And there is NO convincing him he's getting them off that tramp!
So should I tell him I saw from the towel in the bathroom he has it again.. Or just let the damn things eat his head off?
And yes I know 100% what lice & there eggs look like I've worked in the health fieldlearn to read. I clearly said FRIENDS,
