Well, I got my puppy (black lab, aww) a week ago and at the breeder's she was flea-sprayed. It was rubbed throughout her coat and I thought she was ok. The breeder said she had no fleas. Since then she's been playing A LOT in our garden and sleeping in her bed, I've been carrying her a bit. She's just generally been living. And a few days ago I noticed I was itching a lot more since my dog came to live with us, and I became worried. My mum also noticed bites on her, and my neck, and scalp have become itchy... I'm worried it might be fleas. I've also noticed black dots, bugs and white eggs that look like nit eggs in my hair and I haven't had nits since I was 7. And ew. :( I also found some sort of bug in my hair too... She's had no contact with other dogs though... Could she have caught them just from our garden? And if so, how do I get rid of them from her, my mum, me and my family and home ? Cause I'm just worried. Any good pet treatments? Please help. ITCHHHYY :( moreResolved Question: I am a teenage girl and I have had lice for just over 2 years. I have repeatedly used lice shampoos?

I've had head lice for 3 weeks now. Week 1 = my sister had head lice so my mom decided to check me aswell. Turns out I only had nits. I did a shampoo treatment that you get from the pharmacy. Week 2 (7 days later) = After carefully combing my hair with a very thin brush, there were still head lice in my hair. I did another shampoo treatment. Week 3 (9 days later, because 7 days later i was not home) = After carefully combing my hair again, we found some other head lice in my hair. IS THIS NORMAL.. after 3 weeks? My 9 year old son came down with a terrible case of head lice on Friday. We treated it with RID and combed out most of the nits. My hubby then shaved his head very very short (a buzz cut) Saturday night I put olive oil and tea tree oil on his head and let it sit for an hour. Then I combed out nits. This morning I combed out his hair, found 3 more nits and then gave him another treatment with NIX. I then combed through his newly buzzed head and I can see absolutely nothing. I checked 3 times with a flashlight, there's nothing on his head. The question is that there is a large family barbeque this afternoon where there will be tons of kids. Is it safe to take him to the barbeque? I say yes, hubby says no. moreResolved Question: Question about head lice..?

I have gotten lice from my cousin several times. This time though. my head has been itchy for a few months, and I've been busy and forgot to tell my mom I was itchy so she could check my head. I can FEEL them crawling on my head, and whenever my mom is near me she thinks she sees a nit. It's gross because I feel them crawling, and it's so itchy it's not even funny. It's one itch right after the other. There's also been a few random, tiny bumps on my head in several places. I do have a lot of dandruff though, too. I treated myself for lice a few weeks ago... I found many dead bugs, so the treatment did work. i redid the treatment every 7 days (four times) to ensure that i would kill the newly hatched bugs (i didnt have time to pick out the nits, and i read you can do it this way too) well there are still eggs in my hair (i am waiting for them to fall out, because i dont have time to pick them out.) i am just worried that i still have lice, but when i did have lice i found a bug crawling in my hair everday, but now i dont, but i do still have eggs, and my scalp doesnt itch so whats your opinion do u think i still have lice? moreResolved Question: How can you tell if you've got a good vet or a bad vet?
Well honestly, I'm really picky about vets, and I get annoyed whenever I think they're trying to sell me stuff just to make more money, or if I think they don't know what they're talking about. For example, I just took my 7 week old kitten to a new vet and they recommended that he be put on a diet including dry food to "clean his teeth" (although I've heard that's a myth), and that he be treated with Revolution flea treatment for fleas - the priciest flea treatment of them all. Do these sorts of things mean a vet doesn't really know what they're talking about, or are all vets like this? Maybe I'm just nit-picking. moreResolved Question: Psoriasis..........?

Weeeeell, I have an insane fear of lice. I went through a very traumatic experience in middle school when my friend gave me lice, everyone found out, ha to cut my hair, etc. So, we moved recently to a brand new home do o an unrelated issue. It's been two years since the lice incident, but I constantly pick through my hair. It is sort of the two year anniversary this week, so it may be a phycological reason that I can't stop itching my scalp. I checked it thoroughly, but found no visible lice. I do hve a teensy bit of dandruff. I found 5 small nit-ish looking things but cant be sure it was just a hard bit of skin or pimple stuff. I also have two tiny red sores, but this could be dandruff related. Anyway, I would rather not have my mom check me. It would be so embarrassing to relive this, and seeing as I am a sophomore, I can handle this on my own. Without being sure of what my head condition is, what should I do? Any treatments to do at home? Thanks. PS I own a comb from LAST time. ughhh moreResolved Question: I have lice now what do I do?

I am so grossed out. It has come to my attention that my 9 year old has come home with head lice. :o( I am grossed out by bugs and hate anything dirty (ironically I have found that lice prefer clean hair and enviornments!) We have tried the over the counter stuff.... and wow, my hair has NEVER been more dry. My daughters scalp is practically peeling - on top of the fact that we found ANOTHER louse after treatment. I do not want to subject our household to another round of chemicals, but I do not want these bugs either. Does any one know of a safe, effective way of removing lice AND nits? Since october she has been coming over to my hose with lice and i dint find out till december when i saw it in my daughters hair. I had to do her head like 3 times before i found out i also had it and i had her father check my head and family members and keep getting red bumps/rash on my neck and they inbeded under my dandruff so i thought that is what i had here come to find out it was lice my head was infested so i trashed alot of stuff bag all toys washed everything and bought the spray for stuff that didn't fit in washer n dryer. Just to here her father say oh ya my daughter has had it a few times i didn't think you needed to know so ever since december every weekend i have been checking her head she comes in the house trough my kitchen and she has a seat on a wooden chair so i can check her hair and every weekend i have been putting lice MD in it and then try to get all of the eggs and nits out as best i can. she has only come over once with out it and that is because me and her father went to the school and they said something to her mother. But this is all the time and the father gets made at me cause as soon as she comes over she is stuck in the kitchen with me for 5 to 8 hours depends on how bad it is the child is only 5. I need to know what actions can be taken cause the father don't want to do or say to much cause then she will not let him see his child. we have offer to come help her do her house and pay for all of the stuff but she will not let us. Like last weekend i did her hair and father told mother that she needs to go trough and get all eggs out. Daughter came over our house today and i asked her if her mother did anything to her hair she said no my mom knows i have it that is why she did my hair like this so u wouldn't see all the eggs. Her mother came to pick her up I told father to tell her no so i can finish trying to get all eggs out (all ready did treatment) but the mom said no she needs to go to softball practice. So, Wednesday, my girl's daycare called, saying that there was a little girl in my youngest's class that had head lice. So, they checked Arwen's head and said they found what looked like nits, but they weren't for sure. I called the Dr. and the Nurse said it sounded like lice, but they wouldn't see them in the office, just in case. I pulled them out of school and ran home to give them the treatments. After all the shampoo and gel, I combed through their hair and found 1 dead louse in Lily's hair and 2 head louse(s) in Arwen's hair. I took them back to school the next day to get checked and they found twice as many nits! They even checked my hair and found them. They said that couldn't come back to school until we did the second round of treatment in 7-10 days. So I had to go to work and get a leave of absence, so I could stay home with my girls while we get rid of the lice. I bought every product recommended by friends. I've bought tea tree shampoo and dumped baby oil on our heads. I've scrubbed with my fingers nails until our scalps are red. I bought the special LiceMeister combs and spent hours combing our hair. My kids are only 23 months and 3, it is a pain in the ass to get them to sit still for the combing. BUT, I don't see any nits! Nothing. I don't if I'm missing them or what. Everyone keeps telling me different things. The nits the teachers showed me, were not close to the scalp. they were a few inches from the scalp. They weren't oval shaped, they were kind of flat. They were attached to the hair though. The teachers aren't even sure if my girls came in direct contact with the girl with head lice. She isn't usually there when they are, and the teachers discovered the lice on a day my kids weren't there. So far, my kids are the only known cases. I've also been watching my kids, and I've haven't seen them scratching at all. I'm scratching, but I don't know if it's because I think I have lice, or if I actually do. Plus, my head always kind of itches, because I have sensitive skin, and I get dry scalp every winter. I'm starting to think that maybe the teachers were wrong, and I just wasted a lot of time and money. moreResolved Question: HELP!! MY CHILD KEEPS GETTING LICE!?

Ok, so my niece has Nits[[unborn headlice]] what's the best treatment to get rid of them completely? what can i do? moreResolved Question: Dry scalp could be due to lice treatment?
Well, a little while ago my little sister had a case of lice. We did the treatment, but didn't get rid of all the nits and she got it again. We did the treatment again. We kept missing a lot of nits that we didn't see and she got it a lot. At least 6 or 7 times. Finally, we did the treatment and combed through every single hair and got rid of the infestation. Well, ever since then she's had a very dry scalp and is always itching and it's flaking and stuff. Could this be due to so many lice treatments? I know those chemicals can't be good for you when you use a lot. And if it is caused by that, would regular dandruff shampoo help it? It's just she's always scratching, and we know it's not lice again because we've checked SO MANY times. There isn't a single nit or louse anywhere. Would dandruff shampoo help with this problem? Or should we try something else? moreVoting Question: What would you do about this?
I'm not on speaking terms with a close friend who is more like family. I care for this person, but they're controlling and nit picky. I tried to very nicely tell them that this behavior offends me and I got a hang up. That was a week ago. Neither of us has made an effort to initiate contact. I'm guessing that she doesn't feel as if she's done anything wrong (she rarely does). I feel that when you're close to someone, the silent treatment is not only hurtful, but childish. I'm trying to move on, but it really pisses me off. This person takes much more than they give as it is, and I don't feel the need to make the first contact because she was the one who shut me out. I don't know what to do, if anything. moreResolved Question: Head Lice for over a year, serious question...?
I know this is nasty but I need serious answers please. Ok last December my sister (she is 12 now) came home with head lice. I basically knew it was head lice but my parents were like no it is not. So she had it for a few weeks before they finally started treating her. Well by that time I also had it (I am 16 now) and so did my sisters friend. We did call the school and they didn't care and they told us we could come back to school and our school never checks heads or anything. We have tried all of the normal treatment over the last year. OTC lice shampoo, prescription shampoo, we nit comb our hair, home remedies, vacumming, washing our bed things, putting stuffed animals in a plastic bag.... Now my sister gets it on and off. Like she won't have any for a week and the next week she will have a TON. We think she is getting them from her friends house even though her friend dosen't have any. We also think that they might be living in my sisters bed. As of right now she is the only one who has them bad and I have a few but nothing major... Any suggestions?? Thanks!!I'm ME - Yeah we already bought those really nice nit combs...Oh yeah I forgot to add that we both have pretty thick hair that is like shoulder length....ginarene... - We already use the tea tree oil too... See we have tried everything!! moreResolved Question: Got blood work for a very sick cat. No more $$ for treatment...any suggestions?
Here is the complete workup for this poor sick cat. She is so sweet and only 1yr old. If anyone knows anything about these things I am willing to do anything to save her, I just can't afford to have her stay overnight at the ER for treatment. She hasn't eaten in a day and a half and has done nothing but projectile vomit consistently. We got some eye droppers and tried to give her water and some pedialite and a little juice from a can of chicken. I'm pretty sure 99% of that came back up. albumin: 4.3 g/dl AlkPhos: 8 u/l Alanine Aminotransferase: 406 u/l Amylase 898 U/L Tbil: mg/dl Urea Nit. Any ideas are welcome...I guarantee that if your suggestion makes her feel better, you will have saved her life. Thank you in advance!Yes, we took her home and are basically doing what the vet would be doing. They released her too us knowing that we can do what they would have tonight. It is really really expensive, and to be honest, I'm having trouble paying my own health insurance. If we were to leave her there, it would have cost $1100 dollars.....and $699 just to have them do the exact same thing we are right now.Yes, we are trying our best to keep her hydrated. We have syrenges from the pet ER, and tried using an eye dropper earlier. She is pretty down and out at the moment, but still purrs when we pet her. :( moreOther Nits Treatment results
