I was suffering from dry cough for few months after my typhoid got over say after 3-4 months. I used to take some natural intake dat wud stop cough(eg: drinking the honey which is soaked in Indian Gooseberry). it used to give temporary relief. Then one day i found it difficult to breathe when i finished cleaning my room. Then went to the doctor and he said it might me symptoms of wheezing or asthma and gave me medication for one week to stop the cough.. after that i dint have any breathing trouble means i breath normally as i do and breath a bit fast wen excited but not difficult to breathe. Then also cough continued so i started taking pangajakasturi every morning and night mixed with milk. its showing me relief.. But still i cough say 3-4 time wen i get excited.. will it be cured taking pankajakasturi? am i really a asthma patient? what other steps can i take to make it fully cured?? and while take pangajakasruri am not supposed to take non veg or any milk products... have any idea aboout dat hw to take it? and since morning and night only i take so can i eat non veg during lunch? more

okay so it is 3:00 in the morning where i am because i have been up all night having anxiety about sleep paralysis. i think it may have been because i drank coffee before i went to bed and i randomly started thinking about sleep paralysis and how awful it is. i even looked up the symptoms for it and it said if you drink coffee before you go to bed it increases the risks, also being a teenager, and going to bed hungry. i have all of these risks right now so i am going through a lot of anxiety because i remember one time i got sleep paralysis and i thought it was horrible. i could hear very LOUD voices outside my door. they were very distinguished too and it seemed like i was fully awake, but i wasn't. it was VERY scary. i am also being very paranoid because every time i hear the littlest noise i jump. help please? :( more

Open Question: This is weird and bothering me way too much.?

So, I have been on birth control for well over 5 years now. The patch, 3 weeks wearing it, 1 week off. During the one week off, the "period" happens (which is actually not a period, but rather a withdrawal symptom from the chemicals and hormones the patch secretes into the body, but usually looks and acts like a lighter version of the pre-birth control period). I have experienced lighter periods, no period, extra periods, etc in the normal use of the patch, nothing outside the "norm" as mentioned in the multiple pages of information I can find on the subject. It is late, and contacting my doctor is not logistically feasible right now, and I want to know, should I go to the ER, should I buy a pregnancy test, or should I just go see him tomorrow? Anyway, this is my issue: I have had no cramping (yay, omigosh yay, but really abnormal for me, even on the patch), and instead of the somewhat heavy dark flow i normally get, it is bright pink, looks sort of mucous-y, and is a very, very light flow...barely more than daily discharge. I don't understand. Am I pregnant? Am i anemic? Is there an infection going on? What the heck? more

My mother has recently been diagnosed with bipolar II. I am in my late twenties, and am in pretty good health. However, I do have some issues with alcohol and gambling, that could be completely unrelated. I was just wondering if these are symptoms, and what are the chances of bipolar II disorder being passed down to your children.Having been reading on bipolar II, another thing that worries me slightly is in the past 5-6 years, I have become increasingly uncomfortable in larger groups. I try to avoid parties and prefer going to dinner with a a couple a friends, and absolutely avoid large outdoor shows, whereas before, I used to quite enjoy them. more

Open Question: How to tell if I have diabetes?

I'm exhibiting some of the symptoms of diabetes, but others seem amazingly far off, so I'm wondering what to make of it. I drink a lot. However, this is mostly intentional because I'm trying to drink the recommended 8 cups / day. Also, because it's summer, I've been eating lots of salty foods, and I biked quite a bit today, I've drunken quite a bit more. I urinate a lot. See the drinking one. Blurry vision. Only in one eye, which is also the eye that gets incredibly itchy over the course of the day (this has been going on for a while. I'm guessing it's just allergies). It's most noticeable when I'm tired (been staying up late) Dryness/Itchiness. My skin has been dry, but only after I wash it with soap (and only on my face). Scalp has been rather itchy, but I think it might've been a mild allergic reaction to canned salmon, because it only happened a few times (around the times when I ate canned salmon). This is my problem; I have explanations for each thing, but it still looks worrisome (the blurry vision in one eye bothers me most. It's not like there's a film, it just seem like there's a little "eye goop" over part of my eye. If I look directly through the "blurry" part, it's no longer noticeable.) more

i went to the doctor's twice this week, with symptoms of a water infection. It keeps coming on and off, the doctors say it's just because of the heat and stress. They said to drink plenty of fluids, so that it flushes it down and keeps the symptoms at bay. But this morning, I weoke up with excruciatng pain, where my urine tract is. Also wen i wee'd, it was limited and a drop of blood came out aswell. I have had two all-clear tests, and apparently we can all show signs of it, without actually having, but because of the really hot weather and stress, can cause symptoms. I am also showing signs of thrush, so is it thrush that is the main problem, i'm not sure, but I know i do not have a urnie infection. Could it just be stress and weather issues, and lack of fluids? more

So here's whats going on.. I have a boyfriend, but haven't had intercourse since early mid june! after that i told my bf no sex cause i was getting on birth control...a lil over week later i went to the docter and took a pregnancy test and had a pap smear and the test came out negative.. after that pregnancy test i have continued to NOT have intercourse till im officially on the birth control.. im expecting my period the 1st week of july sometime... but i had a one day brown spotting period thing on june 28th thru 29?! i had a tiny cramp with it. i started my period normally first week of june. i was extremely stressed monday actually in tears. Is there anything going on??? Open Question: Burning Sensation when urinating. Slow/Weak urine stream?

Hi! I am a 39 years old male. Married faithfully for 10 years. Approximately 11 months ago i developed urinary problems. Whenever i would go to relief myself, i would feel a little burning sensation at the tip of my penis as well the mid shaft area (I am sorry if that's an incorrect way or referring to it). My urine would come slow/weak and the stream would become slow and then get stronger. These symptoms were accompanied by frequent visits to the bathroom. My first urologist told me that it was either prostatitis or enlarged prostate. My urine tests came back with negative results and PSA was also good. I was prescribed Cipro for the first two month. When the probelm persisted, I was then prescribed a combination of Uroxatral and SULFAMETHOXAZOLE TMP DS TABITP. This combination helped somewhat with the burning sensation as well the flow (somewhat). I went to him once more and, once more he prescribed the same two medications. My condition did not improve much so i changed my doctor last month. I am told by my new doctor that i dont have a enlarged prostate but an inflamed one. Once again i was prescribed SULFAMETHOXAZOLE...., as well as Flomax and Naproxen. After a month of being on the above medication, my condition is still the same. Has anyone else experienced what i am experiencing or any urologists/specialist that can diagnose what might be wrong with me? p.s (no problem with erections either) more

Ok, first off. I am not depressed. My life is wonderful. I have a good spouse, a beautiful 10 month old baby boy, and I am a stay at home mom. My life is good. Here are my symptoms. I cant keep concentration on anything for very long. For example, Ill be doing my online classes, working hard, then all of a sudden I will think of horrible things that can happen. It can be from my own self to my best freind. By horrible things I mean like are they ok, is something wrong. I also tend to be very moody. My moods dont change on the drop of a dime, but certain things can trigger my mood swings. My mind is always racing. I cant keep track of my thoughts and am very forgetful. I just am always worrying about everything! does anyone have this problem and is so what did they tell their dr? Over a week or two ago, I started to get a runny nose and I was sneezing much. I thought it was just allergies. There were about 2 nights in a row where I had a mild fever, a headache, and I felt nauseas. During those nights, I began to cough intermittantly. It is a dry cough. This week, my nose isn't runny anymore, but my cough has progressively worsened. It hurts my stomache muscles and my head when I cough, but my throat doesn't hurt. But the cough is getting more painful by the day. I've also had watery eyes for the past few days. Tonight it's unusually itchy and watery. So do these symptoms sound like whooping cough or do you think that this may be just bad allergies? I usually have allergy problems in the fall and spring, not the summer. My coughs are usually accompanied with a sore throat, but I don't have one at all. I would appreciate the answers :-)I should add that the coughing fits last longer and are more frequent. more

Three days ago I saw my OB/GYN to clear up my first yeast infection. The symptoms were unbearable. Redness, swelling and severe itching, mainly on my clitoris and labias. I was prescribed Diflucan pill and Lotrisone cream. The cream seemed to help for maybe 20 mins and I'm STILL itching just as badly as the first day. I'm losing sleep over this. last period was may 30th. it was due yesterday. 3 days ago I thought i had a uti. I pee allll the time so i took cranberry capsels and have been drinking alot of water. I got tired like half way through the day like my last pregnancy and "felt pregnant" so after like a 6 hour nap last night i hadn't peed in like 8 hours and hadn't drank anything that afternoon so I took a home preg, test. it was an obvious positive. The next morning(this morning) I took another test to confirm it and it was a strong positive. same brand. so today I drank like 70 oz of water through out the day and went to the urgent care tonight to see if i had a uti because it seemed a little early for the peeing symptom, the uti came back negative and the urine pregnancy test came back negative. they redid the test with the same pee and it was negative again. they said it could be from all the water I drank if I got two positives. they took my blood and said the result will come in a few days. am I pregnant do you think? ive been over tired, leg cramps. swollen boobs and feet, gained 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks...how common is a false positive? more

I know that full-on Asperger's is quite a bit different from being simply shy and introverted. In fact, I know not all "Aspies" are even shy or introverted. Still, for the life of me I can't figure out what the difference is between "mild" Asperger's and shy, introverted, technically-oriented types. This type of personality could easily read a description of AS and easily identify with at least half of the symptoms, and have some Aspie-ish problems in life, such as navigating the youth/college dating/hookup scene, which is very hard if you are not a "cool" extravert. Is there such a thing as mild Asperger's or is that just wrongly pathologizing a personality type? It just bugs me that you could take certain threads on say, WrongPlanet, and substitute "introvert" and "extravert" for "Aspie" and "neurotypical" and the discussion's points would still be completely relevant and true. more

Open Question: Swollen gum localized in one area - what could this be a symptom of?

The gum in between my first molar and second premolar (second and third teeth from the back on the top right) as well as the front gum above my second premolar (third tooth) are slightly swollen and at times a little painful. I don't think I have a gum abscess as I don't see or feel any bumps along the gum line. The pain is worst in the morning, right after I wake up. The tooth itself isn't in pain, just slightly sensitive but only when I bite down. I get the feeling that any pain in the tooth radiates from the gum. Not sensitive to hold/cold. This went on for about a week then was fine for two days. Then the slight swelling/pain reappeared two days ago. I went to see the dentist, and she said there were no cavities or major problems with the gum. She felt the irritation was just plaque buildup and told me to continue brushing, flossing, using Listerine. Should I be concerned that this could be more serious than just plaque? I just had my teeth cleaned a month and a half ago and have them cleaned every 6-7 mo. I also brush 2-3x/daily, floss daily and use mouthwash 2x/daily. I would think any buildup would not be that bad considering this... Does this sound like something more serious - like an infection or abscess? I guess it might be nothing as the dentist said, but I am just concerned as the swelling/pain has lasted almost two weeks now, and I would think if it was just plaque and I was practicing good oral hygiene, the swelling/pain would be gone by now? Ok so I'm 14 and I'm 5'4" and I'm 128 lbs and I'm bout 9 lbs over weight.I've always been a hungry person but when I was 9 I had some severe stomach pains after I was done eating.After about 3 weeks I lost a lot of weight.My mom took me to the doctor to see what was wrong.They didn't know anything so my mom took me to a specialist.He said drink milk after eating so I did.After I got better and I was no longer needing milk or dairy in my diet.After I turned bout 12,I noticed I was tired more but also hungry.When I turned 13 I was in the middle of a test and I started falling asleep while I was writing and everytime the teacher came by I would just kinda look at her drously and look at my test.I had fallen asleep at 8:30 pm and woke up at 7:05 am so bout 11 hours right? Well after a little bit it would be lunch and I was eating I had been shaking and at that time I wasn't really hungry but then after bout 10 min I was really really hungry and it was past lunch.So when I got home at 4 I did the usual thing I had been doing grabbing a snack every 3-5 min and doing some hmwk then when I got about 1/4th of it done I would get really tired and fall asleep and it would be about 6:30 and bout 2 hours later I was up getting water bc I felt really dehidrated.During P.E I was getting short of breath and extremely thirsty.I told my mom and dad bout my symptoms and my mom said that I was exadurating and I didnt need to go to a doctor my dad said it was bc I have hypoglycemia(low blood sugar) and I was tested 4 diabetes when I was younger and nothing was found.About 3 days ago I went to bed at bout midnight bc I was very uncomfertable and I woke up at about 2 in the afternoon. Im also very cranky,one day my younger brother came home from a go-kart race and he won 3rd place he comes in through the door and shows me his trophy I look at it and at him bc he wouldnt stop running his mouth about how the race was and he was trying to be really nice and I broke out into a scream and said "yeah yeah very nice now leave me be" and he almost cried.Idk whats wrong with me and my parents wont let me see a doctor to find out whats wrong.Am I over exadurating?is it puberty?or is something wrong that I need to have checked out? more

I do. I have a bladder disease [Interstitial Cystitis] whereby when I am stressed it gets worse and I have to go every half hour. Because our stupid insurance has changed too often over the years, and they have forced us to change doctors just as often, let alone 3 of my past doctors have since retired and 2 others have moved away, I have no proof of the disease documented. Therefore I can not get excused from Jury Duty because no one new will write a letter for me. So I will have to go and suffer, and God forbid I get chosen for a trial they will have to just put up with me raising my hand to go, quite often. My doctor now, and a urologist did not want to test for the disease because when you are inflamed, blowing the bladder up with air and going in with a camera is just plain stupid, painful and dangerous. So, again, I got a presumptive diagnosis due to my symptoms. My bladder is covered with scar tissue as well due to endometriosis. The doctor had to cut my uterus away from my bladder because the endo had them stuck together all along one side. This was done during a hysterectomy 9 yrs ago. That will never go away. As far as the bladder disease, there is no cure and I have to watch acidy food and drink intake and also keep from stressful situations. This is stressing me out! Is there anyone else out there suffering from a medical condition that gets no mercy from the courts? It is just evil to force someone that is in pain and/or is suffering from any disorder to be put thru that. I feel so discouraged. Open Question: What disorder do I have?

My mother has NPD...while I lived with her...i was very much BPD, borderline personality disorder...i finally got away from her for a year and a half, but because of money reasons I went back to her...during that time away i got in touch with my emotions...i really soul searched, i became more calm and peacefull..and didn't really have any BPD symptoms...now I'm back with her...and I'm very confused...no will to live or make plans..i've even tried to get away from her, and even that seems too taxing...i'm depressed...i can't see my future...i think that dying is easier than living and going out into the world, and i have a great fear of the world out there...i have intense feelings of sadness, and i no longer know their purpose...before i kind of did, but now i have a very hazy view of my identity....and so on and so on, so my question is this depression, am I back to being BPD...or what is going on?? more

Open Question: Medical Marijuana Card in CA?

After I had my daughter my back stood really messed up from the epidural. I think I may have started leaking spinal fluid because the person putting it in had hit my spinal cord, and mentioned something about the fluid. So, since then I have had chronic back pain in my lower back. I can still function, I just can't stand or walk for too long because my back starts to hurt. It really affected me when I had a job also because it was hard for me to concentrate on my work when I had this pain to think about. I want something to help with the pain, but don't want to take any narcotics. My dad has arthritis in his lower spine and is nearly addicted to methadones and vicodins. I am really scared of turning out like him, and would like something more natural. I am also Bi-polar. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago, but stopped taking my meds 5 years ago. It wasn't entirely my choice to get off the meds. I was a minor at the the time, and my mom took me off of them fearing I would become chemically dependant like my dad. But I've noticed that my mood swings have been getting really out of hand lately and it's been hard caring for my daughter. I would like to be on some kind of medication for it, and figured since I was considering applying for a card for my back pain, it may help my mental state as well if I were to be approved. So my question is, with the given information, do you think I would be eligible for a card? I've done research on the matter, and all I've seen is if I have a chronic or persistent medical condition that limits my ability to conduct major life activities, then I'm eligible. Or if the medical symptom may cause harm to the patient's safety or physical or mental health if not alleviated.ETA: I don't have any proof the epidural is why I'm experiencing the pain, and Idk if it would show up in an x-ray. and where exactly is the "pot" dr? Do I have to go to a specific one, or can I just go to my pcp? (primary care physician) more

Open Question: testicular torsion do i have it?

ok im not sure but i think i may have had testicular torsion, in about november i hurt my balls in a shower (tropped a bottle of shampoo on them) it hurt, but not that much, it caused an instant gag reflex and i threw up. but the pain soon subsided after about an hour.. about every night it would hurt a bit for a bout a week but it all went away after that. since then though my ball seems to hang lower then normal there was not any swelling only the first day but that went away as well, it still responds to cold and everything still gets warm when my body is cold and gets cold when my body is warm and all that, i still ejaculate the same, everything is the same but readig about torsion really creeps me out because i have 1 of the symptoms one side of my scrotum is a little more red then the others.. i have been paniking for months now lol i didnt see a need to see a doc. i told my mom she sayed if it really hurt she would take me but it didnt hurt that much... it is more sensitive now though anyways .. just wanna know what yu thinki am known as a little paranoid and overprotective over myself. i always freak out and over exadurate .. my balls are probably fine more

When I look in the mirror sometimes, my right pupil is bigger than the left. It's not that much bigger, but enough to notice. No other symptoms other than when I'm having a dizzy spell, that eye fogs up. No other symptoms. My left eye is dominant if that helps. I was just wondering why this would be. more

Open Question: 36 weeks pregnant, 2nd pregnancy question(please)?

Hello, I am currently 36 weeks pregnant. Lost my plug 2 weeks and 1 day ago. Been having just a little spotting occasionally. Went to the doc today and I am 1 cm dilated, 90% effaced and at a 0 station. I know that with some 2nd pregnancies you efface faster than dilation and then once at 100% effacement you dilate quickly. Anyone have experience with this? How long does it take to get to active labor once you are 100% effaced. Been having all the symptoms of early labor for about 2 weeks now. Advice please. Yes I know 36 weeks is still early but doc says it is FINE. more

Open Question: i really think my cat's dieing, help please?

ok so about four months ago my cat bandit died, he was three years old and his symptoms were, he was tired always, and his breathing was really jerky. our local vet diagnosed him with feline ashma and said he'd be fine, well he wasn't three days later we came home to find that he had had a violent death, we guessed he stopped breathing. and well our other cat, who is about three now, well he's real sick to. he's very swollen in his stomach, right between his shoulders and hind. and he does nothing but sleep anymore. the vet can't figure out what's wrong with him and he diagnosed him with feline luekimia. but he's still swollen and we don't think that's the case, because they're both inside cats, thanks so much for the help. email if you want to ask anything else about him. i really love him though, his names ranger. more

Open Question: Does The Army Look Into Your Medical Records?

I have wanted to join the US Army since I was 13-14. I would like cry if I couldn't get a waiver in the Army. And then suicide, If both the Coast Guard and Navy denied me also. I am wondering if I should lie or not at MEPS? If anyone knows, how can I find out if I still have asthma or not since I didn't have symptoms and stopped using medications since I was 13.
